Editing Postgraduate records

The postgraduate records database (PG DB) holds information on research and taught course postgraduate students. It manages core data as well as allowing the creation and completion of progress reports including both the new University Annual Progress Report and the Science Faculty Report (also known as the quarterly report). From session 2013-14 it also provides access to the [[PG:Credits_System|credit grid]] used to track and manage the attainment of [[PG:credit_activities_browser|credits]] relating to the Postgraduate Certificate in Researcher Professional Development.

==Student Records==
This section of the system holds all the core data on each student. Much of the data is automatically sourced from the central records Oracle database, but is supplemented with locally held data. Student users can [[view/edit records|view]] their own data. Supervisors, Assessors and Examiners can [[view/edit records|view]] their students and [[Completing_progress_reports_-_staff|complete related reports]]. Admin level users are able to [[PG:student_record|view and manage]] the data for all students in their department.

==Progress and other Reports==
The database has a comprehensive form and report building tool that allows admin level users to create a series of customised reports that can be assigned to a degree programme, with the ability to assign different users the ability to complete certain parts of each report. Any student on the system is automatically assigned a set of reports that correspond to their degree, which can be further edited to suit that individual as required. The system keeps track of which reports are due and tracks completed reports. Tools are available that allow a supervisor to monitor their own students and for departmental administrative staff to get an overview of all supervisor/ student reports.

==Admin==
Admins of the PG DB are independent of SPIDER admin users, so can be allocated to any (staff) user on the system.  Admins are able to:
